The Brideshead Ballroom Stompers

Originally named 'The Ballroom Stompers’, the band were chosen to feature in the 2008 movie-adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, starring in the famous ballroom scene filmed at Castle Howard.

The now re-named Brideshead Ballroom Stompers provide a show that brings something totally unique to your event.  Specialising in the British swing music of the 1930’s, the band takes all the elegance and humour of the pre-war era performing well known songs in their original style.  Swing classics such as Cheek to Cheek, Have You Met Miss Jones and Nice Work If You Can Get It, are combined with entertaining songs from the 30’s such as The Teddy Bears’ Picnic and The Sun Has Got His Hat On.

With fantastic music and costumes to match, the band will give you the real feel of an authentic 1930’s evening, ideal to sit-back and enjoy and even better to get up and dance to.

The band consist of 9 of the UK’s finest musicians, who have played in many of the countries top bands including the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, Syd Lawrence Orchestra and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra.  Directed by trombonist Matthew Ball the group play top class authentic arrangements written by their very own drummer - Phil Steel (BBC Big Band Arranger of the Year 2002 and 2003).

The band are also available in a 6-piece line-up. In this formation their repertoire is mostly of the trad-jazz genre and can be with or without vocals. If at any point background music is required, the band can reduce further to a 4-piece, excluding drums and one front-line musician, so as to keep things a little more low-key.
